R.I.P. Pretty Girl!!

Everyone who knows JR and I, knows we love dogs. Maybe even a little more than 'normal' people. They are our children...they act like children and we treat them like children. 3 years ago we got our MinPin, Chico and shortly after we got our Pitbull, Baloo. They were the best of friends, until we got our girl Pitbull, Feyah. She was so dang cute, we couldnt resist getting her. Although she was taken too early from her mom, we nursed her and kept her warm with heat lamps, stayed up with her at night and baby'd her til she was old enough to do things on her own. She was the cutest, yet the dumbest dog we've ever owned. She would do the funniest things and was such a Daddys Girl. She loved JR and loved to cuddle with him and have her belly rubbed. When we moved to our current house, her and Baloo stayed outside during the day, as they were now best of friends, and were the biggest. They were two peas in a pod. She was the protector of the two and would bark if she heard someone or something. She would never hurt a sole, she just knew if there was potential danger. Shortly after I got home from the hospital from being sick with Pnuemonia, we arrived home one day and as I usually did, I looked outside to see where her and Baloo were and what they were up to. I will never forget the way she looked. She wasnt herself. She could barely stand, her legs wobbly, and her head hung low. Not the bright, cheery, wild Feyah I knew. I knew something was wrong. JR and I went out there to examine her and see if we could see what was wrong. Nothing we could see on the outside. We decided then to take her to the Pet ER, as it was after normal vet hours. We put her in the car and took the dreaded 20min trip, a trip we will remember forever. She just layed in the front seat, not even lifting her head to the sound of her name. As we got closer, her breathing got slower and slower. I knew something was terribly wrong. We finally got to the vet and they took her back right away after all the usual questions were answered...name, age, shots current? symptoms? ... They were taking her back to do some tests to see what they could find. Im sure it was minutes, but it seemed like hours waiting for the Vet to come tell us what she'd found. They did a urine sample and her urine was crystalized. So the vet asked us if there was any way she could have gotten into Anti Freeze. We thought for a second, and no, there wasnt. We had none what so ever at our house or in our yard. The Vet went back to do more testing to narrow it down to what exactly was happening. Just in those short 30 minutes or so that she was back there til this point, her condition had already worsened x10. Finally the Vet had some answers and it was not the answers we were looking for. Any other vet trip we've had (and we've had a lot with 3 dogs) it was a simple test, xray or exam..some medicine and they were better in a couple days. Not this time. Her kidneys had shut down within a matter of hours. She was dying and there wasnt anything we could do, but end her suffering. I dont understand how people can say 'a dog is just a dog'... I bet they would change their mind the 1st time they had to see their dog suffer and to have to put them to sleep...for good. The vet gave us a chance before they put her down, to say goodbye. There she was, our sweet baby girl, only a year old, suffering so much she couldnt even lift her head to look at us. We talked to her and kissed her and told her we loved her a million times, but it will never be enough. It will never take the sadness away, or bring Baloo back his best friend. We still arent sure to this day how she got the anti freeze in her system. We took our other 2 dogs in that same night to be tested since they would have had to have it in their system too right? Wrong. They were fine. We have a theory on what happened, as we have some shady neighbors who did not like Feyah's barking....but there is not use in trying to prove it.. there is no way you could prove something like that. All I know is whoever did it, I hope they one day can feel the pain we've felt and the sadness and the remourse for doing such a hurtful thing. Something that we will forever remember. We miss her everyday, still. Baloo looked for her every day for 2 weeks and cried for her.. and he is not the same dog since. To whoever thinks its silly to write such a blog about an 'animal', walk a day in my shoes..hell, even 5 minutes of having to say goodbye to your pet before they die. Its awful and its heartbreaking.

Rest In Peace babygirl... we love you and we know that you are up there running wild, chasing birds and having fun without a care in the world.
